I made my first balloon model in 1992. It was supposed to be a dog but was more like a cross between a giraffe, worm and a lobsided reject of a sword. My lengthy career in aviation maintenance includes Procurement and Supplier Manager and the grandly titled Rotable Inventory Optimisation Manager. I also design, SEO and build websites. Not to mention 20 years of musicals and variety shows – so I won’t.

When I was a child, playing in the school yard and talking about what we wanted to be when we grow up, I always said that I just dreamt of being a Rotable Inventory Optimisation Manager – not too many people have had their dreams fulfilled. “Me childhood dream come true”, as Robbie Keane would say.

However, the balloon models progressed up to a 10 ballooned Daffy Duck on a Harley Davidson creation, Magic Shows, Puppet Shows, Mad Professor fun science, Kids Bingo, Circus skill Shows – and more. “This is great fun” I thought and from that humble first balloon creation, grew Really Grand Events. I set up the company in 2004 to supply quality, reliable, the best valued and the most entertaining of entertainers to both domestic and corporate customers and to suit all budgets. We’re still here and keep growing every year!

We are now the largest provider of the greatest variety of children’s entertainers and party packages in Ireland – and its great fun!

They all laughed when I said I was going to be a kids entertainer when I grow up. Well, they’re not laughing now.

My background is in Electronics, having started my early life as a service engineer with a multinational home electronics company.

My first steps into the entertainment world were, like Pauls, on stage but that’s far too long ago to recall….suffice to say, I spent many years threading the boards of many many theatres throughout the country.

I then progressed to my corporate event as a giant teddy bear in some large retail venue on the outskirts of Dublin (hey, we all gotta start somewhere). Having mastered the balloon twisting, I went on to teach balloon twisting to many clowns and entertainers who today are making a living as entertainers. In 2005, in collaboration with Paul, Really Grand Events turned a corner when both decided to embark with entertaining as main professional roles.

Todate, entertaining children (some adults as well) has been both rewarding and fun. I am looking forward to moving forward by delivering new products for our clients to ensure the future for Really Grand Events and keeping happy smiles on little faces.

Looking forward to hearing from you and thanks for visiting.
